Chronicles of the Overlord – End of 2020 Reflection

Commencing operation . . .

Overview

What a year it has been. 2020 has proven to be challenging due to the lockdowns mainly, which will hopefully be lifted early next year, but who knows. Plans for many people have been delayed or derailed out rightly this year, I would imagine. Some of mine have, indeed.

But it has not been a terrible year for me, not at all. 2017 and 2018 were worse years. I moved jobs multiple times in 2017, and I suffered chronic lower back pain in 2018, which was highly unpleasant suffering through that while working full time. The lockdowns have been a damper for sure, but I have dealt with worse things.

Anyway, I want to take some time to ponder back on the year as reflection is an excellent analytical tool to implement from time to time.

2020 Accomplishments

Piano

At the start of the year, my digital grand piano died. It was not a good start to 2020, musically. I reconnected with an old work colleague who I had given my keyboard to in the past, who gave it back to me after explaining my circumstances. I had reinstated a working solution for my music, and it was good to catch up after so long.

My digital grand was still dead, though, and I wanted to try getting it fixed. I contacted a few piano specialists, but because the device was so old, they did not want to look at it. I had a couple of friends take a look with no success. I had resigned myself to the fact that it was dead at the point, but in the summer, my fortune improved. I became acquainted with a new friend, and the breakthrough finally happened when he managed to get it back up and running again. It has been great having the old digital piano back in action. You can read the full story here.

UK Martial Art Seminars

Before the first lockdown, I took part in a couple of seminars hosted by talented martial artists such as Shihan Olaf Lotze-Leoni, Shihan Scott Brown and Nathan’ Carnage’ Corbett.

I had the pleasure of spending some additional time with Shihan Scott Brown, which was a privilege I had never experienced before – quality one on one time with a senior martial artist. I learned many valuable things, both in terms of martial arts and life philosophy during this time.

Garden

My garden had been a mess for the past several years. I never bothered with maintaining it while working full time, (bar mowing the lawn) so many of the trees had become overgrown massively. One good thing about the first lockdown was that the forced seclusion gave me ample time to initiate a garden project of sorts. Once the lockdown had lifted, I also enlisted the help of friends and even one of my neighbours to tidy it further. I am pleased to say that my garden looks significantly better than it had done in years previous.

Blog

At the start of the year, I committed to publishing over a hundred articles, and I have achieved this milestone. To date, I have almost 200 articles, most of which are dedicated to improving your health and wellness.

Going into 2021, however, this blog is going to take the back seat. I am working on a couple of projects currently which require a considerable investment of time, energy and focus if I am to see them to fruition.

When I am ready to unveil these projects’ specifics, I will share them with you on here but that time is not now. I will not abandon the website entirely, but I will be posting less frequently.

In exchange, I am making both of my books available free to download for a limited time. Consider it a gift for the New Year. Reading is always a great past time to undertake, and ample time should be available while we slog through yet another lockdown. You can download the books from the links below.

Expired!

Conclusion

That’s a wrap! 2020 has reached its end and here is hoping the state of the world will improve for 2021. Happy new year!
