Commencing operation . . .

Overview

Back in 2016, my family took a trip to Sri Lanka to visit other family and go on some pilgrimage sightseeing ventures. Anyway, on one of our many trips, while we were taking a lunch break, there was a smoothie vendor nearby, so I ordered an avocado smoothie.

It was so good, and it has been on the back of my mind for ages to make my own. The problem was that I did not have a blender, and it was difficult for me to justify getting one if I was potentially only going to use it for one infrequent thing.

You know when your mind reminds you to do a certain thing over a period of time, it is a sign that it is something worth pursuing. I had a reminder recently about making the avocado smoothie, so I decided to finally act on the message and make it happen!

I went in pretty hard and purchased a high-quality Ninja blender which has multifunctional use. The plan being that I make smoothies in the summer and soups in the winter potentially. Anyway, let’s get down to business.

Avoboost

Ingredients
  • 1 Large Avocado
  • 1-2 Ripe Bananas
  • Handful of Blueberries / Kiwi Berries
  • Handful of Spinach
  • Handful of Mint leaves
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 2 cups of Ice
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of flaxseeds
Recipe
  1. Peel the avocados and chop them into bite-sized chunks. Do the same with the banana.
  2. Load all of the ingredients into a blender and puree the contents until it is juiced. You should place the avocado and banana first, followed by the berries, then the leaves and finally the flaxseeds, honey, lime juice, finishing off with the ice.

Conclusion

I have loaded this recipe with various ingredients which serve as an anti-bacterial weapon of sorts. Mint and lime juice are particularly potent at eradicating germs in the body. Flu season is coming round, so it is more important than ever to ensure that the immune system is fighting fit.

I came down with the flu just under a couple of a weeks ago, and I was pretty amazed at how quickly my body fought through the worst of the symptoms. By the fourth day of the infection, I had reached the blocked nose segment of the battle, and after an additional four days, I was fully cured.

My body blitzed through the sore throat/cold/cough stages and ended up spending more time dealing with the blocked nose. I cannot say for certain that my recent addition to including Avoboost into my diet has helped, but it likely has.
