Best Eats – Organic Wholemeal Digestive Biscuits

Commencing operation . . .

Overview

Another biscuit steps up to the plate for review! This time we have Organic Wholemeal Digestive Biscuits from Doves Farm. If you know me, I am a sucker for biscuits. Consider it one of my very few dietary vices. Besides, it’s nice to let loose a little and enjoy the food you like, providing it is consumed in moderation.

Ingredients

Wholemeal wheat flour*67%, palm oil*, sugar*, barley malt extract*, raising agents (sodium bicarbonate, ammonium bicarbonate), salt.

Truthfully, this list of ingredients is not bad, especially in comparison to a lot of other biscuits on the market! The wheat used is wholemeal, which is a healthier option, at least.

As you would expect, there is quite a lot of sugar in these biscuits, which I would say is the main drawback. I think they have added an unnecessary amount of sugar as I find these biscuits to be quite sweet. There’s a good amount of fibre and protein in these biscuits, though, which counts for something.

Conclusion

All in all, a pretty healthy biscuit, as far as biscuits go! The only other thing I would say is that these biscuits can be quite “moreish,” and it can be very tempting to devour a whole pack in one sitting. So if you tend to overindulge with your food, it might be best to stay away from these. A solution is to preemptively portion the amount of biscuits you intend to consume, and then lock the rest away!

I do enjoy these biscuits, especially with tea, and I recommend you to try them out sometime!
