Best Eats – Grandma Wild’s Crumbly Oaties
Commencing operation . . .
Okay, so you’re probably wondering why I have decided to talk about cookies on a site that is all about promoting healthy habits and cracking down on the bad ones. Hear me out! On this occasion, I have made an exception. You see, cookies and biscuits tend to be my Achilles heel when it comes to healthy eating. Everyone has a weakness somewhere! Don’t be naïve enough to think otherwise. As far as biscuits are concerned though, these take the cake. Or take the cookie perhaps. I stumbled across these by mere chance while searching for healthy biscuits. If biscuits are likely to remain my guilty pleasure of choice, I might as well try and find a healthy variety to consume. Damage limitation! Seriously though, check these bad boys out; I will list the ingredients below.
• Oats
• Vegetable Oils
• Sugar
That’s it. No butter, no flour, no chocolate or any other garbage apart from the sugar; which as far as I am aware is a staple for baking. I once tried to bake my own cookies and thought I could make a healthy version without using sugar. The result was like eating hardened flour. Tasteless and difficult to swallow as the flour was quite sticky once broken down inside the mouth. Putting that unpleasant experience aside, these biscuits are the best I could find, and I think the only way of creating a healthier cookie would be to bake them yourself – but don’t neglect the sugar as I did! You might be able to get away with using honey or maple syrup instead of the sugar for the sweetness factor, but I’m not sure. If you’re a biscuit and tea fan like myself, can’t be bothered to bake your own batch and want a healthy option (as far as biscuits are concerned), then give Grandma Wild’s Crumbly Oaties a try, because when the cookie crumbles, these are my go to choice.
